Proctor's loan has a further fortnight to run but Law wants to increase it to three months.
Law said: "It's no coincidence that the two games Michael's played in we've been markedly better. He has brought another dimension out of Wardy and taken a lot of the pressure off him.
"I'm hoping we can get him on a more permanent basis and I'll ask Sunderland about it.
Obviously with Flo and Stewart coming in there it's probably knocked Michael back a couple of pegs."
