Wimbledon 2 Bradford City 2

There were only 1,178 at Selhurst Park of whom 333 came from Bradford.

Wimbledon should have done enough to have taken all points, but in fact had to battle back twice from arrears.

And in the opening stages they might have had a two-goal lead had the accuracy of David Connolly, who scored four goals at the Bradford end of this fixture in September managed to find that accuracy.

Twice early on he missed simple chances on either side of the first goal headed in by Claus Jorgensen from a Michael Standing corner.

Ironically it was Standing's corner that was responsible for the Bantams second goal tapped in on 60 minutes by Ashley Ward following a Danny Forrest flick-on.

Wimbledon came back in the second half through star performer Gareth Ainsworth who pushed home at the far post a cross from Connolly and then the Irishman took on the role of provider.

After 70 minutes he provided the pass for Neil Shipperley to score his 12th of the season with a simple tap push-in.

For Wimbledon Ainsworth was outstanding, but not far behind was Moritz Volz, the 20-year-old German, on loan from Arsenal, adding a maturity that belied his youth.

For Bradford Peter Atherton came back to turn in a creditable performance as did Ward who managed to get himself back on the scoresheet.

In the first half a header from the youthful local Nigel Reo-Coker almost added a Wimbledon goal after 21 minutes and three minutes later a curling shot from Connolly was inches too high.

Then towards the end Mikele Leigertwood steamed through to slam a bending shot fractionally wide of the post.

For Bradford, under pressure for much of the game a cross shot from Atherton early on could have been rewarded had not Kelvin Davis punched it away, but it was largely a day in which Bradford had to defend as they registered their first draw for four months.
