Grandison wins it for Shrews

Jermaine Grandison's goal kept Shrewsbury in the automatic promotion places as they dug deep to beat Bradford 1-0.

Shrewsbury, who remain unbeaten at the Greenhous Meadow this season, came flying out of the blocks and it was no surprise when they raced into a 15th-minute lead.

Defender Grandison's determination was to the fore as he followed up to turn in the rebound after James Collins was denied from point-blank range by Matt Duke with Bradford undone from a corner.

Aaron Wildig then fired over from close range and Mark Wright bent a curler just off target as Shrewsbury continued to drive forward.

The Bantams found chances in short supply although Craig Fagan should have done better than volley wildly off target from six yards after James Hanson nodded back Simon Ramsden's cross.

The visitors carried more of a threat in the second half and Fagan volleyed straight at goalkeeper Chris Neal. But Shrewsbury defended solidly to register another clean sheet and Matt Richards came close to adding to their advantage at the other end when his 20-yard free-kick was tipped over the bar by Duke.
