Dean Windass performed a one-man rescue act to haul Bradford City back from a two-goal deficit and keep their play-off hopes alive following a battling draw at Peterborough.

City have never won at London Road and did not look like burying that ghost in this their 12th visit after Steve Thomson and Andy Legg struck in quick succession.

An opening spell notable only for the number of misplaced passes ended when a mistake by Paul Henderson between the Bradford posts almost gifted Posh the advantage.

Midfield operator Thomson got plenty of bite behind his 28th minute shot although Australian-born Henderson appeared to have it covered until the ball span out of his grasp and into the net for the opener.

The home lead was doubled three minute later through 38-year-old Legg, starting his 701st league game, as he fired his fifth goal of the season from a free-kick that Sagi Burton first shaped to take.

Between the goals, Bradford top scorer Dean Windass produced an immediate response with a stinging shot that brought a fine save from Mark Tyler.

Then Windass showed just why he is City's top marksman as he seized on a 64th minute half chance to pull back a goal with his 20th strike of the season from just inside the penalty area with the ball taking a deflection off Mark Arber.

There was even better to come from the one-time Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Aberdeen man as Windass slammed a 73rd minute equaliser home from a tight angle after intercepting a poor headed clearance by Legg.

Windass kept up the pressure to the end but was denied a possible winner by a fine challenge from 20-year-old Posh defender Sean St.Ledger at the death.
