Gills and Bantams in lacklustre stalemate

Promotion-chasing Gillingham were forced to settle for a point as lowly Bradford carved out the best opportunities in a goalless draw at Priestfield.

The Gills, who had scored 12 goals in their previous four games, did hit a post but otherwise struggled to break down a determined City side who were left to rue some bad first-half misses by James Hanson.

Jo Kuffour could have given the home team a dream start but his second-minute deflected scissor kick from the edge of the box hit the woodwork.

But Bradford went on to dominate proceedings and Hanson drew a point-blank save from Ross Flitney after 30 minutes only to boot the rebound over from five yards with the goal at his mercy.

A minute later Hanson again found himself in acres of space but his tame close-range header drifted harmlessly wide of a post.

Bradford substitute Nahki Wells thought he had broken the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining but his effort was ruled out for offside, before the visitors survived a goalmouth scramble to take a point from the dire encounter.
