Bradford 2-2 Gillingham- Match Report

City comeback leaves Gills frustrated

James Hanson's controversial 82nd-minute equaliser completed a remarkable fight-back as Bradford maintained an unbeaten home run dating back to November with a 2-2 draw against Gillingham.

Gillingham were clinging to a 2-1 lead when Hanson scrambled the ball over the line. A flag was raised but after a long consultation, referee Scott Mathieson allowed the goal amid strong protests from the visitors.

Gillingham opened the scoring in the 25th minute. Joe Kuffour provided a quality cross for Lewis Montrose to head just inside the far post. Almost immediately Bradford were denied an equaliser by a linesman's flag as Hanson bundled Kyel Reid's free-kick into the net.

An injury to Bradford captain Ricky Ravenhill caused him to miss the entire second half and the Bantams fell further behind in the 56th minute when right-back Simon Ramsden's interception spun into his own net.

Bradford substitute Nahki Wells had a goal frustratingly disallowed seconds after leaving the bench in the 62nd minute but persistence paid off nine minutes later when Wells rose to glance Reid's free-kick out of Paulo Gazzaniga's reach.
