Midson brace sinks Bantams

Jack Midson's double from the spot downed 10-man Bradford 3-1 and secured AFC Wimbledon's second win on the bounce as they moved a step closer to League Two survival.

Wimbledon's leading scorer made it 20 for the season as Craig Fagan collected a second yellow for kicking the ball away in the first half to all but condemn Phil Parkinson's men.

The game burst into life just after the half hour when Billy Knott was bundled over in the box by Rob Kozluk, Midson tucking the spot-kick beneath the despairing Jon McLaughlin.

New loan signing Pim Balkestein then put through his own net from Fagan's cross to level the proceedings before the Bantams captain received his marching orders 60 seconds later.

The home side wasted little time turning the screw as Knott rose high to head in at the back post eight minutes after the restart.

Referee Darren Deadman then awarded the Dons a dubious second penalty for a foul on Jason Euell, Midson stepping up to do the honours and give Terry Brown's men a timely boost.
