Bradford and Bingley cited the current situation surrounding the club as the reason for its decision.
The bombshell was dropped less than 24 hours after United Co-operatives shelled out #55,000 to support the Bantams in their battle for survival.
The company's chief executive Peter Marks hopes the cash can help keep the club alive.
He told the Telegraph & Argus:``It would be a disaster for the city and the community if Bradford City folded.
``As a major and successful Bradford business, we are determined to play our part in avoiding the outcome.''
