The former Burnley and Stoke striker turned out for the reserves which drew 1-1 with Sheffield United at Valley Parade on Tuesday.
Colin Todd snapped up the 29-year-old last month but the forward was unable to play before the New Year.
Ben Muirhead put the second XI ahead with an early strike before United levelled the scores after the break.
