Harvey leaps to City's defence after local councillor attacks club

David Ward, a Lib Dem councillor for Idle, made the comments in a letter to the Telegraph & Argus earlier this month, accusing the club of lacking ``a clear strategy to build supporter loyalty''.
In his programme notes before City's clash with Reading at Valley Parade, Mr Harvey openly admits more work could be done in the local community, but rejects suggestions that the club does nothing. He said such views were ``at best ill-informed''.
Meanwhile, Bradford Council says it does not have the cash to help out the Bantams during their financial crisis. In a statement, it says:``We do not want to see Bradford City go out of business and we hope a solid way forward can be found.
``The council will provide whatever support it can, such as the help of officers to talk to different organisations, but it is not in a position to provide finances for the club.''
Council leader Coun Margaret Eaton told the Telegraph and Argus:``I think Bradford City is very important to the district and we would hate to see it fail. However, we are the custodians of the public purse and there is a limit to what we can legally do.''
Mr Harvey said the club would continue to have talks with the council to see what help it can offer.
