The 23-year-old was back for the Bantams during a recent friendly against Bradford Park Avenue and followed that up with games against North Ferriby United, Halifax Town and Bury.
The former Everton man picked up a hernia problem last autumn and underwent surgery.
He appeared to be on the mend, raising hopes he would return before the end of last season.
But the midfielder suffered more heartache in March when he discovered he needed more time to recover -- only days before he was set to turn out for the second XI.
Meanwhile, Bradford have been drawn against Rochdale away from home in the opening round of the Carling Cup on August 23.
The league one side have not recorded a win in all cup competitions since September 2001.
