The youngsters went down 2-1 to Tranmere Rovers at Prenton Park last Wednesday.
After their fine win against Hull at the start of the month, they must have fancied their chances.
Unfortunately for them, things did not go according to plan.
The home side scored two goals towards the end of the first half to put them in control.
City struck back with a late goal from Tom Penford to halve the deficit.
