The Bantams have not recorded a win against a team in a knock-out competition since September 2001.
Their latest defeat came last month when league two strugglers Notts County sent them crashing out of the Carling Cup with a 2-1 win after extra time.
Boss Colin Todd could be without David Wetherall, Wayne Jacobs and Nicky Summerbee due to injury while keeper Donovan Ricketts is fighting for a place in the squad after a groin strain.
Leading scorer Dean Windass and Lee Crooks are both in line for a recall to the starting line-up.
Loan strikers Dele Adebola and Neil Roberts are also available for the first round match at Valley Parade.
City team (probable):Henderson, Holloway, Gavin, Bower, Emanuel, Summerbee, Crooks, Schumacher, Windass, Kearney, Roberts, Adebola, Muirhead, Wetherall, Jacobs, Ricketts.
