The Manchester United player could be added to the 16-man party for today's match against Wrexham after joining the club on a five month loan deal.
Meanwhile, City have snapped up experienced striker Andy Cooke until June 2006.
The forward, who has had spells with Burnley and Stoke, becomes their third signing this month. But Cooke is not available for selection before January.
