"I have to do whatever I can in order to keep the club going. If that means selling our best players, then that's what I'm going to have to do," said Rhodes.
"People should ask themselves what's the alternative?' Some of the comments I've heard, like where's the money gone', are just downright insulting.
"Ninety-five per cent of the fans have been brilliant and, let's be right, they've not had a lot to cheer about in the last few years. They have been very good about it.
"Unfortunately, as in any walk of life, it's always the five per cent who speak the loudest and speak with so-called authority, even though they don't really know what's going on.
