Postponements proving to be expensive

Football League rules state that a travelling club can claim expenses should a game be postponed, so Palace can look towards two payments from the Bantam's.

The original game was postponed just four hours before the stated kick-off time and so obviously the London side were already in the Bradford area when the game was called off.

And, athough Wednesdays rescheduled game was postponed on the Tuesday, the Palace squad and management team had already arrived in Yorkshire.

"Unfortunately the Palace team had set off from London at lunchtime on Tuesday and were already in Yorkshire when the decision was made, so it looks like we will need to pay their costs again," said Bantams chairman Gordon Gibb.

"It is not an ideal position for us at the moment because of the club's cash-flow position, but there is nothing we can do about the situation."
