Parkinson named as Bantams manager

The Bantams collected just one point from their opening four npower League Two games under Jackson but reacted to his departure by beating Barnet for their first win of the season on Saturday.

A statement on the club's website read: "Parkinson was always the club's number one choice to land the position, which has been vacant since the departure of former City captain Peter Jackson four days ago."

Parkinson has been out of work since being sacked in January by Charlton, whose relegation to npower League One and subsequent play-off disappointment he oversaw.

He previously undertook spells in charge at Colchester and Hull.

Caretaker manager Colin Cooper may remain in the dugout for Tuesday's Johnstone Paint Trophy clash with Sheffield Wednesday before handing over the reins to Parkinson.
