McCall hints at resignation

Bradford manager Stuart McCall revealed he was preparing to stand down from his post following his side's 1-0 defeat at the hands of promotion-chasing Bury. The Bantams have won just once in their last seven league outings and find themselves languishing in the lower reaches of the League Two table, despite pre-season expectations of a promotion push. McCall said he would meet with joint chairman Julian Rhodes on Monday to discuss his future at the club, but admitted he would "do what is best." He said: "I think this is the time for someone else to take up the reins. I love being manager of this club, but this is a results-based business. "I have 18 months of my contract left, but that is irrelevant - I will do what is best for the club. "Last season was failure with the squad we had. This season if we had another eight points it would be a fair reflection of what we deserve and we would have been pushing for the play-offs. It is disappointing things have not worked out for me here, but that is life."
