Bradford midfielder Tommy Doherty will be a surprise inclusion after his ankle operation was postponed.
Fellow midfielders David Syers and Tom Adeyemi are both available after knocks, but Lee Bullock (thigh) and Steve Williams (hamstring) are out.
Crewe manager Dario Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke: "I would think they are the biggest club in this league, they get the most support.
"They'll be decent, but I keep saying every week that every team in this league is decent.
"I don't think we do any better at home than we do away, I don't know what the statistics say but every game is an opportunity for us to get points."
