Darlington wanted him on a two-year deal, but the striker believes he has an important role to play for the Bantams and his new boss.
He told the club's website:``I spent a lot of time thinking over the possible move.
``It was good that Darlington offered me a contract but I want to continue at the highest level possible and with Colin Todd now in charge at City, I want to help them get promoted again.''
