According to the club's website, David Hockney has sent a cheque to the Telegraph and Argus Newspaper which is spearheading an appeal to save the club from closure.
Mr Hockney now lives in California but still heads back to Bradford from time to time.
It is believed he made the pledge after a relative told him about the financial crisis.
