Jacko confirmed as Bradford boss

The 50-year-old has signed one-year deal with the npower League Two side after acting on an interim basis in the second half of the recently-completed season. Jackson's assistant manager Colin Cooper will also remain at Valley Parade after he too penned a 12-month deal.

Jackson returned to the club he captained as a player in February, when the Bantams were vulnerably placed in 20th, and helped them retain their Football League status over the final 14 games.

The appointment of the former Huddersfield and Lincoln boss, who beat throat cancer during his spell with the Imps, comes a day after Bradford pledged to remain at Valley Parade and Jackson believes the club will benefit from the stability.

"Now that it is all sorted and all out in the open I can build for the future, and I'm excited by that prospect," he told the club's official website.

"Being at Valley Parade is also another huge bonus for us all - no-one really wanted to leave in the first place.

"We need stability at the football club and hopefully these two announcements will help to bring that.

"My main aim next season is to play attractive football, but winning football as well."
